Milso Owned Small Business: Fern's Décor Finds

Happy December, friends! We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your friends and family (or whoever you were able to celebrate with this year)! We are back with another amazing military spouse owned business this week on the blog and we are so excited to share them with you. Now back to the real reason you're here: Fern's Décor Finds. Fernanda joined the ranks of military spouses when she married her college sweetheart after meeting in their general chemistry class. They got to chatting during lab one day and found out they had a mutual friend. Later when they failed to find each other on social media, they both contacted their mutual friend to ask about the other. Thankfully that friend took it in stride and helped make the connection. As time went on, they got to talking and studying together and eventually became best friends. Shortly after that, they started dating and as they neared the end of college the time to make decisions about post college life was upon them. Her husband wanted to pursue medicine and landed on the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences school of medicine, and in order to attend that school he commissioned into the Navy. This route allowed him to serve his country and provide care for active duty, retired, veterans, and their families. Currently Fernanda and her husband are stationed in Bethesda, Maryland with their daughter and one sweet pup.

Being in the military and constantly moving around makes it hard for spouses to get jobs, as we all know from personal experience. For Fernanda lately they have been moving every 3 months which can make job searching impossible. However, like many military spouses, she wants to help contribute to the household financially as well so they can reach their dream of getting out of debt quickly. This prompted Fernanda to start her business, Fern's Décor Finds where she sells personalized engraved wooden pieces that can be used as coasters or decorations. These pieces make excellent gifts, keepsakes, and even Christmas ornaments. Fernanda can take any image you have and have it engraved on your piece!
